WE SPEAK WITH ACID CTRL

Earlier in November we had the chance to ask vaporwave artist ACID CTRL a few questions. We found out what his inspirations are and why he started recording this type of music.

Hey there! What actually got you into recording music?

I’m not even sure myself! I started in the summer, I was most likely bored and decided to play around on FruityLoops! Easily one of the best decisions in my life because I’ve had so many amazing opportunities and I’ve met so many amazing people through this. I’ve gained a great following of fans that purchase and listen to my music!

Who and where do you get your inspirations from?

I know this might sound crazy, but I don’t listen to a lot of Vaporwave! I used to be a big part of the “sadboy” scene, so I got it from Yung Lean, Lil Peep and other underground hip-hip. I think it helps as I’ve got a massive love for 80’s synth music!

So, can you tell us a bit about your music?

I think the best way to describe it is to not even label it. It comes under Vaporwave, of course. But I think it drifts away from the sub-genre sometimes. It feels very wavy and you can really relax to it, drift asleep or listen to it in the background whilst doing homework. I’ve had people thank me for it as it helps their anxiety for example. That was one of my proudest moments in my music career. If I can help one person out, that’s me satisfied.

Do you have any plans to record any new tunes?

Yeah! I’m still in the middle of creating my debut album “SALIX”. I’m hoping to have it out early next year. I’ve got around 10 songs so far and I’m so proud of it! So excited to show everyone. I have also got some promising collaborations too!

And what is your album/artist of the year?

Oh god! Hardest question. I’m going to have to say, Creeper “Eternity In Your Arms”. I have loved Creeper for a few years, as my brother showed them to me. I have now seen them live and met them personally, they are great people that write music that really connects towards me.

We've recently heard that new music will be released next year and we can't wait to hear what ACID CTRL has done.
