Meet Boston’s Hyperfix, the latest four piece flying the torch for the golden age of rock and roll - an infectious revival that keeps on giving, and they’re at the front and centre. Snake in the Grass is their second offering from their sophomore EP ‘The Sky is Falling’.
From the moment I hit play, I found myself involuntarily pulling a face - you know the one I mean, that kind of instinctive, scrunched-up reaction that only happens when something hits just right, immediately. From those rolling riffs kicking in, I was hooked. It’s that kind of a blues drenched, hard rock swagger that feels both timeless and thrilling!
Every note is delivered with intention - it’s a rich, standout track, with crunchy and infectious guitar work soaked in the spirit of classic rock. It’s a sound that unapologetically nods to the past yet it feels completely at home in the now. It has that gritty charm vocally, with singer Nolan Donato delivering raw growls with conviction, with an effortless chorus that begs to be shouted back at maximum volume.
Hyperfix could easily stylistically sit comfortably alongside the likes of Dirty Honey, with that same bluesy blend of confidence and modern edge. It’s loud, it’s soulful and it’s alive - a modern day revival that embraces the legacy of rock and roll.
