Meet JAYLER; sunkissed rock with a bite!

It’s been a little quiet on here lately - turns out adulting isn’t quite the breezy ride we were promised. Between house hunting, endless emails, and the eternal mystery of what to cook for dinner, writing slipped down the list. But I was recently introduced to an artist who jolted me awake. From the moment those first notes came tumbling out of the speakers, they lit a spark big enough to kick my arse back into gear and remind me why I love doing this in the first place.
Meet JAYLER, a Midlands four piece who embodies that tale as old as time; college friends coming together through the power of music, cutting their teeth at open mic nights, finding their groove, and quickly turning it into something unforgettable.
The first song I heard was Riverboat Queen, and my instant reaction, to put it bluntly, was ‘fucking hell that’s good’. A band of brothers, younger than myself, with a level of musicianship most seasoned artists could only dream of - they’re cinematic, the kind of stuff that belongs on the big screen!
With those sun-kissed hooks, laced with a rawness that bleeds through the golden glow, I swear I could feel the heat hitting my face. Suddenly I was there - drifting down the palm-lined sandy roads of the West Coast, windows down and the stereo spitting a little static - and in that moment I was loving life.
They breathe new life into an era they never actually lived through. It’s a strange kind of magic; how can musicians so young so convincingly channel a time, a mood, a set of feelings that belong to a generation before them? What could easily come off as revivalist instead feels urgent, alive. They inject a freshness into a style that’s already been mined, a sound we thought we’d heard before - but not quite like this. Their riffs bite, their melodies linger like a memory, and somehow they make it all feel effortless. This is a band on the rise - hungry, confident, and impossible to ignore.
This is a band that’s having fun and you can’t help but want in. And sure, we’ve had those warm spells but boys you brought the sunshine! I haven’t had that feeling where I’ve felt a need to write about a band for a while, so thank you Jayler, you’ve reminded me why the best music always sparks something inside you.
